Finance and Operations Manager

The Tahirih Justice Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation that seeks
to enable women and girls fleeing gender-based violence to access justice.
Through direct litigation, social service referrals, and public policy
advocacy, the Tahirih Justice Center protects immigrant women and girls
seeking justice in the United States from human rights abuses. Tahirih is a
Bahá’í-inspired organization founded on the belief that the achievement of
equality between women and men is necessary if society is to progress.

The Center is currently seeking to hire a Finance and Operations Manager.
This individual must be well organized, detail-oriented, and experienced in
basic accounting, human resource management, budgeting, and information
technology troubleshooting.

Position Summary: Oversee all day-to-day fiscal, human resource and office
operations. Reports to the Executive Director (ED) and supervise one staff
and a part-time consultant.

Primary responsibilities will include:

FINANCE

· Develop, maintain and modify annual operating budget.

· Manage accounts payable and receivable.

· Oversee outside consultant to ensure timely financial reports to
the ED and Board of Directors.

· Oversee the annual audit with outside accounting firm and monthly
audits with outside consultant.

· Maintain cash reserve accounts.

· Maintain a system of internal controls.

· Monitor financial practices to ensure compliance with IRS 501c3
status.

· Review and submit annual 990 prepared by outside accountant.

HUMAN RESOURCES

· Maintain, modify and implement personnel and office policies and
procedures, updating employee handbook as needed.

· Research, negotiate and manage employee benefits; liaison with
benefits managers.

· Maintain personnel files, assuring they are in compliance with
regulations.

· Manage administration of payroll via Paychex Preview software and
liaison w/payroll company.

· Monitor staff time keeping and vacations.

ADMINISTRATION/OFFICE OPERATIONS

· Oversee overall office organization and filing procedures.

· Manage IT consultant and office computer related needs.

· Manage all communications systems, including telephone, voice mail
and email; liaison with communications vendors.

· Liaison with building staff.

· Oversee office space including work space allocation; equipment
and furniture allocation; and office supply purchases.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

* Be a proactive problem-solver

* Knowledge of QuickBooks, Microsoft Access, and Excel;

* Ability to manage the information technology needs of an office

* Experience with non-profit bookkeeping, budgeting, and accrual
accounting procedures;

* Meticulous organizational habits with an ability to manage large
amounts of information, establish priorities, and meet deadlines;

* Extremely responsible, self-initiating, and focused; and

* Ability to manage stress, multitask, and work in a fast paced
environment with people from diverse cultural backgrounds and personalities;

Annual salary and benefits: Salary depends on experience and ranges from
$40k to $50k. Benefits include: 15 days of paid accrued vacation during the
first year (20 days of vacation after the first year), additional week of
vacation between Christmas and New Years, 403(b) plan, flex-spending
account, fully-paid health and dental insurance coverage, in-house training
programs, professional development stipend, and staff enrichment retreats.
